I am planning to start fruit and vegetable garden in my backyard. I have cleared a space for that. I am new to growing vegetables, so I would like to get some advice.
I read that raised beds for a vegetable garden has a lot of benefits. http://inthebackyard.ca/garden-beds-beneficial/ It is easier to build, it helps control the weeds easily and perhaps better yield.
When it comes to gardening, I trust nothing but word of mouth. I would like to know your opinion about raised garden beds. I heard that more people are opting this for gardening in small spaces.
I would also appreciate advice on building the structure.

Thank you.

Raised beds is the way to go for maximun use per square inch of soil.
Things you need to look at before building your raised veggie garden:
Need an area that recieves 6 or more hours of full sun .....more is better.
Close to the house for easy access, and water access is best.
Use safe untreated lumber for the construction, such as cedar.
In a nutshell, there is so much info out there on various types and designs, so look and think about what you would like, as to height, wideth and depth.......two or three structures would be better then just one.
Make drawings of where you want to place them....remember orientation...east west is best...

Please post photos of the area you are thinking of placing the raised bed.
