Is it possible to grow them in MN? I would love them to be house plants, but in the winter, it gets rather chilly in the house, between 50's and 60's. Is it possible to grow them at those temps? Any tips if it is possible? Thanks!:D

Hi MG!
I would suggest that if you would like to grow winter hardy cactus outside in your garden is to look for ones that will survive zone 3/4! Opuntia fragilas is a good one and possibly some of the escobaria! The soil has to be quick draining, with lots of coarse sand and limestone screenings added to regular topsoil....preferably in a raised garden created in a rockgarden arrangement.
None of the winter hardy cactus are recommended for growing indoors long term, you would be best to look at ones that are tropical for indoor growing in a sunny window.
Most tropical type cactus would do well with cooler night time temps indoors as long as the soil is allowed to dry out between waterings, less water is required during the winter months!
