One thing about living out here in the country....the fields in our area have been getting their annual "dumping" of chicken poo over the last few weeks. That is the most fowl smelling stuff ever.. hehehehe

Update on the Volunteers from the compost. They must be pumpkins. They have huge leaves and huge flowers not sure if that is because they are growing in compost only or if they are pumpkins. I'll find out soon as they a being pollenated now. Bad thing is I can't use my compost, I'll have to statr a new pile.

And so you say never have too much compost! Hmmmm Tell hubbs that. I have my neighbor bringing his grass clippings by the truck load. Consider the new pile started.
I have about 1/2 of my garden lined with clippings. I still have a lot to get preped for planting hoping to get that all done this weekend. :D Just the grass pile itself is so hot. We had rain night before last and it is way hot from all the moisture.

Volunteers are pumpkins, I waited way to long to transplant so they ar home where they are.

Thanks Dale, they would have gone straight to the pile. I will throw them down the garbage disposal instead. I have some tomatoes and citrus I can't put in there also. Oh well. Better to be informed.

Dor,
If you have gardenias, hydrangas, or other acid loving plants, dump the juice around these plants. They will love it!

I sure do and I just fed my gardenias some epsom salts because they were turning yellow. Thanks for letting me know Nancie.

Wow I didn't know about tomatoes, grapes and citrus not going in compost piles. I have always put them in mine.

A friend called today and asked where I wanted a dump truck load of aged cow manure and I said I didn't. I only wanted a PU truck load.
She said give it away, sell it, give it your family, you are getting a dump truck load.....They are trying to clean out the aged so they can put new in that spot. A local nursery has bought a lot of it. I asked about getting some a few weeks ago and said I wished I had a small dump truck so I could just dump it in the garden without shoveling it so she thought I wanted a dump truck load.. No, I don't need that much. Guess I can sell it with the plants on the side of the road..... Wished some of you lived closer, I would give you some

I have always put all you mentioned in my compost and never had any trouble... any thing that is not animal really is fine...

I piled up horse ppo and the fire ants got into it. I had to keep it watered in order to keep them out. They really set up house keeping and brooding.
