I haven't dabbled in grafting!
I know the principles, and know it isn't all that difficult grafting roses or fruit trees!
I just do not have the need to do any of them!
Potato and tomato is just not practical, but would be an interesting experiment!
You would need a sterile environment such as a green house for toms grafted to potato roots to surivive until they take. Doing this with outdoors conditions would not be advisable and would have disappointing results!

You can actually buy the grafted pot-tom plants. It might save space but the potatoes and the tomatoes have different growing times here, so you sacrifice one for the other.
