you've read it all about composting...got this from Wiki

People excrete far more of certain water-soluble plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) in urine than in feces.[9] Human urine can be used directly as fertilizer or it can be put onto compost. Adding a healthy person's urine to compost usually will increase temperatures and therefore increase its ability to destroy pathogens and unwanted seeds. Urine from a person with no obvious symptoms of infection is generally much more sanitary than fresh feces. Unlike feces, urine doesn't attract disease-spreading flies (such as house flies or blow flies), and it doesn't contain the most hardy of pathogens, such as parasitic worm eggs. Urine usually does not stink for long, particularly when it is fresh, diluted, or put on sorbents.[citation needed]

Urine is primarily composed of water and urea. Although metabolites of urea are nitrogen fertilizers, it is easy to over-fertilize with urine, or to utilize urine containing pharmaceutical (or other) content, creating too much ammonia for plants to absorb, acidic conditions, or other phytotoxicity.[10]

Many...many years ago I read an article in either Mother Earth News or Organic gardening about the use of urine and how to store and dilute it for garden use.
Did you also know that if you are having a mammal pest problem that using fresh "male" human urine can help run the pest off. Deer, fox, coyotes and rabbits will steer clear if you can get enough urine out. Problem is like all other organic pest control it must be frequently reapplied. Just have your guy friends over for some beer or lemon-Ade and tell them where to make their deposits! :D

How interesting.... I noticed an Amish Man was arrested in Ohio for not having a septic system to code. They use an outhouse that has a bucket in the bottom of it and when its full the kids would drag it into the cow pasture and dump in the field with the rest of the manure. It's funny; but not really because the man was arrested. And from what your saying; well it is just kind of silly isn't it... Like what's the difference between cow manure; and people? Funny>>>

In Asia, they sometimes use human waste as fertilizer. I'm not sure how they deal with the problems of disease.

In the western world, sanitary concerns make the practice rare, though some sanitation plants sell treated sewage sludge for fertilizing things that aren't part of the food chain, such as tree farms.

I suppose we waste (no pun intended) a lot of potentially good material, but the health concerns are just too scary for most people.
