Ron I have to do that on the Spanish Daggers I have planted out front. I did not realize how sharp the ends on the leaves get when I planted them. So every so often I go out with scissors and snip ends off.
 
I have to do that to my huge yucca in the garden too....and I know I'll have to snip the agaves when they get large enough to plant in the gardens,,,,,,,they have nasty spines all along the leaves and an even nastier lethal spine on the ends!
 
yes they do. my agaves are still little. I had one getting fairly good size but it froze so I changed to another variety.
