Thankfully since spider plants are very hardy, I have managed to keep a couple for a very long time, but I've noticed that over time they become more stalk at the base with the first leaves showing up much further away, like a palm tree, but in this case hanging over the side of the pot. Is it possible to cut a spider plant like this back so it returns to its bushy, less stalky, beginnings? I've re-potted more 'babies' from spider plants than I can remember, so can do that, but wondering if its possible to work with the 'parent' plant.
