Really mild salsa
My DH makes a mild salsa for me in a food processor- I can't do hot peppers at all.
It's bell peppers, red & green; fresh diced tomatoes; tomato juice or paste; diced onion; tiny bit of cilantro; salt & pepper; spices like basil; garlic; etc, and a dash of dill pickle juice...

Trish, try cannas!! Lots of colors and they LOVE boggy areas in the summer. And in your zone 8, they will thrive. :)

I too love daffodils, lillies and hyacinth! :D Best source I've found for good size lily bulbs is GilbertHWild . Keep in mind when planting - they will increase & spread!
Do a little reading before planting & you will be lots happier with your new flower beds. Some other easy ideas are - Taller...

How about hollyhocks? They come in lots of different colors. There are also some delphinium candlestick types which are almost purple in color.
Both have long blooming seasons, esp if you trim back bloomed out stalks - new ones will sprout.

Yes Kellie, and it does work. It is a helpful method for determining germination rate and also for seeds which need cold stratification, as you can place the baggie in the fridge.

In a small little pot? Next to peas? Why not a parsley plant? It's supposed to have a beneficial effect on peas.

Never heard of rooting veggies this way, but hey - I learn something new everyday! :p If you try it, let us know how it goes.
Also, when trying to root other plants, putting a sprig of willow in the water will help them root. Might help with this too?? :)
