Yes to both questions KL. The most important thing is to remember where you've planted them or have a designated area for them. Otherwise they may get damaged or dug up by accident when digging out weeds and turning the soil over. It should add a nice splash of colour here and there in your veggie beds too.:)
 
chives & garlic are two bulbs which are nice to intersperse in the garden & have beneficial aspects as well. edible too. ;) And different onions are cool to grow as well.
