I thought that since this is a great time of year to get good pictures of insects in the garden, that we could make a game of it.
I know what this is already, and I am sure many others may know as well. But it might be fun for those who are new to gardening and insects, to try their hand at reseach and or test their knowledge.

If you have any picture you would like to post , please feel free.

Been trying to find what this caterpillar is, and will become!
They are feeding on my Antennaria alpina (Alpine Pussytoes)

It is not a lady bug larva or a cicada nymph! I am surprised Ron missed it. Keep trying!
I will give you a hint.
It is a larval stage of a pest that likes, eggplant,potatoes & petunias.
It will have an exoskeleton when it is an adult. And it is not a beneficial

Looks like a swollow tail or a monarch , however the color looks wrong , might just be the way the picture was taken. Is it black and green? If it is it could be a swollow tail.
 
It is not a monarch or a swallowtail!
If you click the photo to make it larger you will notice that it has spines.
It is 1 1/2inches long, so far!
It is not a pest species.
It is a native butterfly.

Try this . Scroll down about 1/2 way to the American Lady. Color is a little off but the other features are the same, the spines, white dots and red bumps. Check out this site and I bet you can find it. I just did a quick look cause I am at wrok ;)

If no one has anymore guesses to the first picture , I'll spill the beans. Just let me know if you're done trying to figure it out :)

Isee it now missed it before, sorry you are right! My bad :eek::confused: It all has to do with that last birthday I had.

I find my long term memory is fine!
BDs can cause that!
 
LOL! Ok with that said I am not having ANYMORE! ( BD that is)!
