We have the perfect climate for them here in western Oregon. We have lots of rain and acid soil. I visited a rhododendron garden up in Seattle a couple of years ago and they have one nearby in Portland also, but I haven't been to that one. We have 8 or 10 rhodies here around our place too.
 
In the Great Smoky Mtns Nat'l Park there some hillsides that will literally take yer breath away, sometimes the color goes on for a half mile.
